For some people, you have the PC side of the equation and you have the console side of the equation and never the twain shall meet. People have tried to bridge the gap, but the solutions thus far have left something to be desired. It’s just not that cost effective to build a home theater PC that rivals the hardware on your main gaming rig, for example. Making this far easier, more powerful and more affordable is the NZXT DOKO.

The idea here is a familiar one, but the NZXT DOKO goes several steps further to provide a better user experience. It’s essentially a network-connected set-top box that you connect to the big screen TV in your living room and it is able to stream everything from your main computer in the other room. Yes, everything.

The primary appeal for most of us here is the ability to play your awesome PC games in the comfort of your living room over your own network. What makes the NZXT DOKO even better is that it’s not restricted to just gaming either. In effect, your TV mirrors anything that you’d be able to see on your computer. That includes video streaming, surfing the web and–if you really want too–regular work-related stuff like Excel spreadsheets and TPS reports too.

And unlike many of the competing solutions out there, the DOKO isn’t bound to any one set of hardware or any one gaming platform. Go ahead and enjoy your favorite titles from Steam, Origin, Uplay or whatever else you want. And you’re not restricted to what controllers you have to use either, as the DOKO has four regular old USB ports to support whatever peripherals you want.

What you will need, from what I can gather from the tech spec sheet, is a wired connection. The NZXT DOKO has a Gigabit Ethernet port but no Wi-Fi. The specs can also sound a little anemic with the Wonder Media 8750 CPU and just 256MB of DDR3 RAM, but you have to realize this is a specialized device and it’s not doing any of the heavy lifting. This is something I’d really want to check out for myself.

The NZXT DOKO can be found through the NZXT Armory Store for $99.99. Watch the video and check the press release below for more information.

DOKO: Your PC. Anywhere.
A PC streaming device that brings you the full functionality of your pc, anywhere in your home.

Los Angeles, CA – DOKO is a PC streaming device that connects to your network and allows you to easily use your PC in the comfort of your living room. Run office software, stream limitless media content and play PC exclusive titles – do anything and everything your PC can do, anywhere in your home.

The current problem with modern PC streaming technologies and set-top boxes is that they all come with their own pre-defined limitations. TV boxes are restricted to their own set of media channels, file formats and limited applications. PC game streaming and screen mirroring devices are all restricted by their own platforms, proprietary technologies or latency issues.

Utilizing a gigabit connection to your network, DOKO offers low latency (50-80ms) high definition (1080p, 30fps) streaming with unparalleled compatibility. And unlike current streaming devices and settop boxes, DOKO offers four USB ports with USBoverIP technology. With this technology, plugging a USB device into DOKO is just like plugging that USB device into the PC that is being streamed, no matter how far away. This gives you the freedom to use the input devices you already own and are used to.

Freeing you from the restrictions of current PC game streaming technologies, DOKO lets you play any game your PC can, all in the comfort of your living room. No proprietary software or hardware necessary. Whether you want to play a browser game, emulated ROM, Origin title, Steam title, Ubisoft title – the options are unrestricted. It’s a great way to experience local multiplayer PC titles in the living room with your friends!

DOKO brings you the same exact browsing and desktop experience as your PC so you’ll never have to deal with a lackluster internet browsing experience in the living room again. With DOKO, you can have the perfect multimedia experience with absolutely no need for another “HTPC” system or media device. View web-exclusive content, stream peer-to-peer files, view high definition media files and more without any channel, application or compatibility restrictions. If your PC can do it, so can DOKO.

DOKO is available now for just $99.99 at the NZXT Armory Store.
