Noctua_NF-A14_3

I was recently asked by a close friend why I thought the brand name on the case fans I use was so important. The short answer is the brand name is not important but the quality of the fans I use is. It just so happens that Noctua and quality go hand in hand as they continue to be a leader in PC cooling technology. Their newest offering is an update to the award-winning NF-A14, called the NF-A14 PWM which incorporates, you guessed it, high-speed PWM.

The new NF-A14 PWM is a move towards higher performance without sacrificing the quiet operation Noctua is known for. It now operate at a maximum speed of 1500 RPM (up from 1200 RPM) for higher air pressure. These are the perfect fans for your case, CPU heatsink, or water-cooling radiator thanks to their combination of high airflow, static pressure, and PWM design. Basically anything the fan needs to “blow through” is where this fan will do well. For example, the increasingly larger sized water cooling radiators that many enthusiasts like using will benefit from this upgrade.

Like many of Noctua’s products, even their smallest fans and CPU coolers, they come with everything you need to customize the installation to your setup. From Y-splitters, to low RPM adapters and fan cable extenders, this is all included, and really increases the value proposition. Noctua fans are typically a few dollars more than the competitors and this is part of the reason why.

I could talk about technology, research, and show off a bunch of diagrams to explain my standpoint on quality fans, but there is no substitute for experience. Go out and get a set of the Noctua NF-A14 PWN fans for your PC now. Once you hold them in your hands, you will understand the difference a high quality air cooling product backed by a 6 year warranty makes. Even if the colour clashes, there’s no mistaking that you’re using Noctua fans.

Noctua releases PWM version of award-winning NF-A14 140 mm fan

May 2nd 2013 – Noctua today released a higher speed PWM version of its award-winning NF-A14 140 mm fan. Its performance-oriented 1500 rpm top speed and comprehensive speed control options make the NF-A14 PWM an elite choice for users who strive to strike a perfect balance between excellent cooling capacity and superb quietness of operation, be it on water-cooling radiators, on heatsinks or in case ventilation.

“Our NF-A15 and NF-A14 fans have been very well received by customers and hardware journalists alike”, says Mag. Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO), “but we got many requests for a square frame PWM version for use as a case fan and on water-cooling radiators. We can now meet this demand with the new NF-A14 PWM.”

Introduced in late 2012, Noctua’s NF-A15 and NF-A14 140 mm fans have already received more than 50 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines. So far, only the round frame NF-A15 was available with PWM support for automatic speed control though. While the NF-A15’s round frame is ideal for use on CPU heatsinks, the new NF-A14 PWM now combines PWM support with the A14’s square frame that lends itself to use as a case fan or on water-cooling radiators.

Like the NF-A14 FLX and ULN models, the new PWM version complies with Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimization) standard and features sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels. Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD1 PWM IC and reference class SSO2 bearings guarantee superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability. Topped off with modular cabling, a Low-Noise Adapter and 6 years manufacturer’s warranty, the NF-A14 PWM is a premium choice for the highest demands.
