From the who-the-heck-are-these-guys department, we have the announcement of a new mechanical keyboard from Tesoro. Never heard of Tesoro? Well neither had we, seeing as they had just entered the North American peripherals market a year ago. The Lobera Spectrum is their newest keyboard, and it can be seen as their entry into big leagues of mechanical gaming keyboards. This is an per-key RGB backlit board, and will be going up against heavy hitters from Razer and Logitech. So what will it offer?
Well the first thing you’ll notice is the Tesoro not using Cherry MX based switches, opting for switches made by a company called Kaihua Electronics. Their Kalih switches come in the same four colours (black, blue, brown, and red), and are all available for the Lobera Spectrum keyboard. You’ll still get to switch between N-Key Rollover (NKRO) and USB 6 Key Rollover, making for a ghost free experience. As for the keys themselves, you can set the lighting on them to any RGB colour with 9 different effect modes and 5 brightness levels. The Lobera Spectrum also has a powered USB hub on the rear, with audio pass through ports.
Time will tell whether the Tesoro Lobera Spectrum can match swords with the big guys. Until we find out, you can check out the full press release below.
UPDATE: A small correction that we’d like to make. Tesoro actually got its start in 2011, but it has only been in the past year or so that the company started pushing in North America.
