Lian-Li Announces New PC Chassis with Component Display in Mind

Lian-Li is one of the top name brands in custom PC chassis. Especially when it comes to fully aluminum enclosures. This year they decided to break with convention and experiment with something a little different with the PC-Q30 Mini-ITX casee. This brushed aluminum case is designed with a front acrylic window to bring focus to the internal components of your mini-ITX build. The PC-Q30 also sports a curved shape to achieve a better viewing angle.

While unconventional, the case maintains enough real estate for the installation of a 7.8 inch (200 mm) graphics card, four 2.5″ drives, and a 5.11 inch (130 mm) tall CPU cooler. For case airflow there is a single 140 mm fan mounted behind the motherboard tray as an exhaust. The PSU does need to be a SFF unit and allows for a maximum length of 4.9 inches (125 mm).

The Lian-Li PCQ30 has an MSRP of $149 US and will be available in North America in June 2013. I think the design is interesting and I officially dub this chassis the “Leaning Tower of PC”. More details in the press release below.

Lian Li Announces New Mini-ITX Chassis with a Curve-Shaped Design and Front Acrylic Window – PC-Q30

Show Off Your Rig’s Internal Architecture

May 14, 2013 – Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd, today announces a new brushed aluminum Mini-ITX chassis – PC-Q30. With its curve-shaped design and large acrylic front window the fully aluminum PC-Q30 allows users to show off their systems, and is sure to be the talking piece of any room.

Whether in the living room, bedroom, or office, the PC-Q30 with its curve-shape and brushed aluminum finish takes visual command without being ostentatious. Additionally, DIY builders can put their stylized internal components and intricate builds on full display – as they should not be hidden from sight.

Thanks to the two expansion slots on the top of the chassis, the PC-Q30 supports graphics cards up to 200 mm (7.8”). For storage, up to four 2.5” hard drives or SSDs can be mounted in the removable hard drive cage at the bottom of the chassis.

A 140 mm fan in the rear of the chassis expels hot air, while ventilation on the top and side allows for cool air to enter. A small form factor power supply up to 125 mm (4.9”) is placed on rubber pads in order to reduce vibrations.

The front of the PC-Q30 is minimalistic in aesthetics and houses the dual LED illuminated power button that glows blue when on and red while loading. The I/O panel with two USB 3.0 ports and HD audio connections is located on the left side of the front of the chassis to not interrupt the elegant aesthetics.

Price and Availability

The PC-Q30 will be available in June in the US and Canada for the suggested retail price of US$149. For more details, go to Lian-Li PC-Q30 page here.
