It seems that every company wants to jump in on the lucrative gaming peripheral market. Our latest entry comes from a longtime manufacturer of computer memory, USB storage, and mobile accessories. Patriot has just announced from COMPUTEX 2015 the addition of gaming peripherals to their Viper line of products.

The new cadre of components will include a mechanical keyboard, two mice, and a USB headset. So why is Patriot jumping into this arena? Saeed Arash Far, Global Director of Engineering at Patriot, summed it up in this quote.

“Gamers already use Patriot’s Viper Memory for superior performance in gaming and we wanted to provide them with a full ecosystem of accessories that speak to their needs with exceptional tactical advantages and a true gaming experience. The Viper line of accessories blasts itself into the competition with four products that not only have key differentiators, but also provides a huge value proposition to all gamers.”

Basically they want gamers to be “patriots” to their brand, which means the lineup better look pretty good if Patriot wants to pull people away from established gaming peripheral companies. Reading through this initial announcement, I can say that it at least appears that they are doing this properly to start.

The V760 Viper Keyboard (pictured above) will feature full colour spectrum LED backlit keys, programmable macro keys, and ergonomic considerations. The two mice will represent the “top-line” with the V560 and “mid-range” with the V530. The top-tier mouse with offer a high DPI laser sensor, and the mid will go with a more traditional (though still quite sensitive) optical sensor. As for the V360 Viper headset, it’ll be a full circumaural unit with virtual 7.1 surround sound.

Pricing and release dates haven’t been announced yet. More info and pictures can be found in the press release below.
