Corsair isn’t new to the gaming peripheral market, but they have decided to re-brand their Vengeance line of peripherals into the new Corsair Gaming division. Along with that re-brand is the announcement of the STRAFE, a new backlit mechanical gaming keyboard.
The STRAFE actually represents a step back from the much more high end keyboards in Corsair’s lineup, though I wouldn’t be implying that it’s a lesser unit. The STRAFE still sports the de facto standard Cherry MX switches found on all Corsair boards, in your choice of either Cherry MX Red or Cherry MX Brown switches. The keyboard is also fully customizable using the CUE (Corsair Utility Engine) software, which can tweak lighting effects and program macros for every key.
The STRAFE simply eschews RGB back-lighting in favour of red, and only red. This manages to drop the price for the Corsair STRAFE to $109.99 USD, which while still a decent chunk of change is a good price for a customizable mechanical keyboard from a known manufacturer.
