The PC case market has always been a market of trends. Once a trend is set, companies follow it until someone changes it to something else new and fresh. Fractal Design was one of the trend setters when it comes to clean, sleek design aesthetics. At COMPUTEX Taipei this week, they announced the forthcoming release of two new updated cases that started the sleek and clean design trend: The ARC XL and the ARC Mini R2.
The ARC XL, as the name implies, is designed for those who need more space for their system than the original had to offer. The focus of the ARC XL is cooling with room for a radiator up to 360 mm, comes with a 3 speed fan controller, 3 Silent Series R2 fans, and plenty of cable routing options to minimize airflow obstructions. This is in addition to flexible hard drive mounting, and easy-to-clean dust filters. The MSRP of $129.99 US puts this windowed case in good company. Expected release is late July or early August.
The little brother so-to-speak is the ARC Mini R2 and is marvel in flexibility. It maintains every feature of the ARC XL, but sticks it in a Micro-ATX form factor. You may find it a little less forgiving when you install a 360 mm radiator at the cost of one of two of 5.25″ bays. The ARC Mini R2 cut down the price as much as the height with an MSRP of $89.99 US and should start shipping in late August or early September.
