The newest is the ASUS ROG Strix GL702VM, packing powerful performance in a light and portable package.
All the major notebook companies are pumping out VR ready laptops. Alienware is doing it and so is AORUS/GIGABYTE. It’s only natural that ASUS would get fully engulfed in this melee too.
The official gaming laptop of The International 2016 DOTA 2 championships, the Strix GL702VM from the ASUS Republic of Gamers family features a NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB of GDDR5 memory, along with a 6th-generation Intel Core i7 CPU. That’s the big one-two punch that gets backed up by a large 17.3-inch anti-glare matte display with full HD resolution and G-SYNC technology. That eliminates tearing and reduces stutter.
With all that power, you’d think that cooling could be a concern. To address this, ASUS has implemented a triple fan cooling system with independent heatsinks and heatpipes. The third fan kicks in for extra GPU cooling when you’re in the heat of the action. Other highlights include the anti-ghosting tactile gaming keyboard, USB 3.1 Thunderbolt Type-C, and 16GB of DDR4-2133 RAM.
Shipping now, the ASUS ROG Strix GL702VM comes in two SKUs. The DB71 variant has a 1TB HDD and is priced at $1,399, while the DB74 gets a 256GB SATA III SSD along with the 1TB HDD for $1,599. Full specs are detailed below in the press release.
